1995 YZF 600R Rear Shock Replacement
#1
Hey all I have a 1995 YZF 600R that to top mount on the rear shock broke the other day. I am having a hard time finding a new replacement shock (have found a couple of used ones) but was wondering if there are any years that coincide with my bike that I could get a shock from.

There is a possibility of buying an adapter for the top that will allow you to retrofit an R6 shock. I've done that in my 2003 as have many others with very good results.
Do a search on here for R6 shock.

Reserector thanks for taking the time to respond. I have plowed through those posts but unless I was wrong it was talking about retrofitting it into a newer YZF than mine and I was unsure if the 96+ (which was the different appearance than the 94&95) used the same style shock or not so I didn't know if the adapter would work for my older one. Do you know if the 2003 that you have might have the same size shock as my 95? I really appreciate the help guys it makes me nervous to have the bike out with a broken shock.

Vashdaytona is the resident expert on the 'foxeye' 600's. According to this post, you should be able to use the later 600R shock, or the adapter and R6 shock:

yes, 97-07 USA shock will fit perfectly. technically different valving and spring rate, but i promise you wont notice. Likely the newer unit will have less age and millage and just feel better overall anyways.
I have a full engines worth of bolts and hardware. if you are missing somthing specialty hit me up I will share.
Goodbye Ashwin, stay safe on the otherside.
