Hello,

My name is Paolo. I've been messing about with motorcycles for the past 51 years.

Now building a yzf600r + fzr600r cocktail.

Nice. What's the wind resistance like without the fairings and windscreen?

After 190 km not a good idea to let go of the bars. Removed airbox, fitted K&N and open pipes stuffed with RVS wirewool (max 84DB). Fitted a Lambda sensor off a Rolls Royce to assist carbs set up. All electrics under the tank. Now preparing YZF600R motor with Turbo and will replace current FZR600R motorblok.

How have you integrated the lambda sensor?

No. Just connected to Air/Fuel mix gauge. Saves alot of time when jetting after airbox removal.

Also added (temporary) 4 high temp meters to measure exhaust temperature from each cylinder. You can buy on Aliexpress for peanuts. Important items (like high quality external fuel pomp, fuel pressure regulator and filter I purchase from race parts suppliers) cost more. Pump €80,- and gas filter €125,-.

As you can see. Lean and rich issues which have now been sloved.

Nice mod! Sounds like you need to write a 'how to'. I am interested to see how exactly you are working out the correct A/F ratio mix.

Good idea P. I read alot of crap on the forums. There are a few very good instructions, but very very far between!

I had the FZR600R running on nitro till the Dutch police got angry as they couldn't keep up

I have pages full of written results like: changing jets (all of them!), setting up the best idle, using temperature gauges to check lean/rich per cylinder, measuring exhaust heat, setting up gas (petrol) level in the carbs, etc etc etc.

But have to change a few more items (like the main jet holders as you can use 8, 16 and 32 air hole types) to paint the full picture.

For example: the bikers who don't believe in Lithium batteries. Bought one the size of your fist, weighs nothing and gives a kick no acid battery could get anywhere near to! And no. They don't give up when it gets very cold.

But doing all this to prepare the bike for the YZF600R motorblock with turbo. I might even add fuel injectors in the carbs

It's all good fun!

But once again. Good idea!

A good example of useless advice: check the spark plug colours. Now believe me. They were the perfect colour, but the motor ran like my grandmother (who's been dead 30 years already).

You sound like you're a determined and skilled bike modder. Love your work. Thanks for the details.

Regarding the fuel injection. I read an interesting page about a guy who converted his bike to fuel injection and turbo. He used a diy Megasquirt ECU to control it. Same throttle bodies could be used on our bike. Just need to work out a way to bolt them down - maybe an aluminium adapter plate. This guy used a dodgy way to attach them.

Just recieved a quote from USA for a Garrett turbo that fits YZF600R. Looks a little bit bigger than the one in the article. Thanks for the info! I've found suppliers for everything I need with exception of the ECU. So your tip really helps.

Have a good[Image: bf604b3d944020d24833caf3ba2551cb.jpg]
