Allow myself to introduce myself... Doh

New YZF owner here. I live in Spokane... well... technically, Newman Lake... out by ID border. Closer to Spokane Valley then actual downtown. I commute into the Valley... Argon Rd area... all days I can safely ride.

Been riding my trusty mule of a '98 Kawi KLR650 for the last 4 years. Just bought an older '96 YZF600R (twin headlights) last weekend. I'm currently in the teardown, inspection, replacing and cleaning phase. Want to ensure good working and running order before I put it into service. Hope to have my bike back on the street in another week or so. Looking forward to riding the YZF. It's my first sport bike... lots different from the dirt bike style of my KLR. And a lot faster!

So... "Howdy". See you around.

Hi, I'm not in Spokane, but I'd love to get a ride together and get over that way. Got some good roads to explore?

He would have stopped before the truck had he used his handlebar brakes instead of his sliding-on-the-ground-sideways brakes.

Hi from Spokane!

Only had my YZF600R for two days... Was looking to get back into this after giving up my toys for my family many years ago. Narrowed it down to the YZF as I wanted something that could be ridden hard, but could be used for commuting and weekend trips with my wife. The YZF seemed to fit how I wanted to use it better than the rest, but almost bought a CBR as used YZFs weren't exactly abundant (esp in black/silver trim).

Came across a gem this last weekend when I found an '03 with 8k miles and minor cosmetic blemishes that ran, but wouldn't go anywhere... it was blue, but I thought it was such a good deal... was a Honda tech many moons ago (yes, it was hard deciding to purchase a Yamaha) so I figured this would be perfect for me.

Bought is Sat night. Had hoped i could just ride it home w/o a clutch, but it wasn't that simple. It seemed forever before Sunday morning finally came and I rented a trailer to go pick it up and bring it home. After getting it home and apart, I found the clutch had basically blown up, with metal bits and pieces which had broken off the pressure plate. Cleaned it up and deburred what was left and put it back together with just four springs, just to see if that was only as far as the problem went.

For the most part, yes... but the tranny doesn't want to upshift very well unless shifting without the clutch.. but still... rideable and runs great once the the old fuel was gone. May have to rebuild the tranny, but I can do that this winter. For now, I need to get it licensed (it sat for a year and a half) throw on some tires and replace the clutch, and it should be fine at least until I have to put it away Nov/Dec. Damn sometimes it just sucks bike shops close Mondays.. Sad

And all cleaned up and waxed I've become quite fond of the blue.. it grew on me Wink

Anyway, glad to see there is a YZF community here in Spokane.

Hey! Now you are on my side. Hook up with eastside sport bikers and we can do a bunch of riding together once it warms up around here.

I'm in Spokane kind of new to riding and got me a 05 in what looked like decent shape until the rear brakes went to crap lol. Speaking of which does anyone in spokane happen to have a used sent of calaper pistons for the rear that are useable?

Hey guys, just recently moved to the East side of Washington, Pullman to be exact. My girlfriend and I both have bikes (Thundercat and ninja 250) and we're definitely looking for some good places to ride. If anyone wants to meet up, maybe we could put a few miles on the mean machines Cheers
